So, I've still been pretty dead as far as my online stuff goes. I started a full-time job, working on getting my debt paid. Unfortunately the plan to use my Senior Projects as online projects kind of fell threw with COVID, but I'm still optimistic to make games.

I've been working on the project off-and-on, and you can get what I have right now here: https://tyooo.itch.io/

Worked out a much more robust combat system and a much more diverse cast of enemies that are better-programmed. However, it's still very much buggy as hell and not *very* good.

I'm trying to come up with a system to work on the game in a more official part-time capacity. I'm working on getting an LLC to represent myself in a more official capacity, and hopefully a website will come soon after. I hope at least some of you are still interested in seeing this become real. I'm tryin' my best.

Thanks for reading!

To clear up any confusion and update anyone who at all appreciated the demo I put out all those months ago, I'm still working on the game! Progress goes somewhat slowly, thanks to my still being in university. I'm hoping to get on a better development schedule after graduation in May. But pushing all that aside, you might be wondering what's changed!

I've overhauled the combat and game play in a very big way. I think it still requires a lot of tuning but I'm overall VERY happy with the base I've built compared to the original demo. I go over it all in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJxFQVE8l8c&t=2s

On the off chance you don't appreciate videos and would like me to write up text posts going over this, do leave some feedback either here or on the video. I don't have a lot of time for that kind of thing, but if I knew people would be interested in seeing that kind of thing, I'd certainly try to make time! On the other hand, I plan to make bite-sized twitter posts more or less going over everything I'd say in a text post like that, so if you're interested in that kind of thing follow me there!

Thanks for reading! I hope to deliver another substantial update by the end of May!

Howdy!

If you're reading this, I assume you've come off the page for my little demo for Rose and Thorn, an action-adventure game I'm making. Well, if you didn't know, I'm still developing it! As I said in the text accompanying the game, that build is about 6-7 months old as of this writing and I've been continuing to iterate over the game design concepts I explored in that demo.

This is all to say that a newer demo is available to play!

But, as a disclaimer, I wanted to make things clear for you guys discovering me through this site. After I made that demo, I wasn't all that happy with it - really, the reception it's gotten is stupidly surprising. I didn't expect this amount of encouragement over that silly little experiment. It was a real booster to my confidence, and it made me feel like my time trying to improve on it wasn't wasted. Anyway, so what I did after finishing up the demo as you've seen it was try to focus on more of the core gameplay mechanics and game feel. I stripped away all the art and have just been working with simple "programmer" assets until I get the feel down to a T. I know many of you were captured by the original style, and I want to assure you that I'm aiming for the final product be altogether better than what I showed you in that demo, but for now I wanted to focus on the important aspects of the game, being the game itself. Keep that in mind if you want to try out the "successor" demo.

Anyway, so here's a link to the newer demo:

https://mega.nz/#F!4HQS1SCb!FF86khH887tma6Ueq4-isQ

You should be able to play it on mac, windows, and linux. Just download the appropriate build and you should be able to play immediately, no installs required. Also, this should remain the same link for my exports, so when I make updates they'll be dropped in this very same link.

The controls are a bit more complicated, but this time I've provided a nifty pause menu you can take a look at. It gives you the ability to remap any action to almost any key, mouse, or controller button. And of course, you can experiment to your heart's content.

Thanks for reading, guys! Any and all feedback for this is welcome!

I'm Tyo. I just started an particular undertaking, and I think this site would be one of the best places to get the ball rolling.

Specifically, I'm trying to make a game.

This game is called Rose And Thorn. It's been stewing in my mind for a while and I've progressed a fair difference in making this game real (though nowhere near enough) and I'm hoping by sharing my progress and eventually the game itself on here and elsewhere, I can begin to grow into a full time dev for my own games.

If you're interested in learning more about the project, I have a thorough log of my progress here:

Otherwise, sit tight and wait for updates! I hope to make this page one of my flagship pages. I think that much is only natural.
